## How do I earn XP?

XP is earned mainly by completing cases. The amount you earn varies by case difficulty. Some other platform activities may award XP too.

## What are the 17 ranks?

You start as a Data Intern and work your way up to Bureau Director:

> ⭐ Ranks 6 and 9 are particularly significant milestones — you'll unlock new platform features when you hit them!

## How do promotions work?

When your XP hits the threshold for the next rank, your promotion triggers automatically — no action needed from you.

* You'll get an in-app notification and a congratulations email

* Your rank, salary, and profile all update instantly

* At certain ranks, you'll unlock new features and gain fictional direct reports in the org chart

## Can I lose XP or get demoted?

Nope! XP only goes up. Once you've earned a rank, it's yours to keep forever.

## What's the difference between Lifetime XP and Current XP?

Good thing to know:

* **Lifetime XP** — the total XP you've ever earned. It never goes down, ever

* **Current XP** — used for rank progression. This can be lower than Lifetime XP if you've spent XP unlocking hints
